A couple weeks back I shared an IG post on my first thoughts on the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask by Peter Thomas Roth. My initial thoughts on the product were that I loved it and the effect it had on my skin.
See below my original post,
"An intense brightening scrub & mask which helps with smoothing away dullness by removing dead skin cells, evening out skin tone with enzymes & brightening over all. Must have during the exam stress season!"
I am now ready to talk more in depth about it now that more than a quarter of the jar has gone!
I had to quickly put my review up of the palette when I saw it was available to purchase on the NARS website since I knew a lot of people were considering it.
When I first saw it on twitter I knew straightaway that I would be picking it up as it contained such wearable, neutral colours that just suit everyone. I'm so glad I did as I'm such a fan of NARS and how well their products hold up. The shades really are as gorgeous as they look.
I've already got a few NARS shadow palettes in my kit and they are by far one of my faves as they consistantly hold up time and again.
So back in March, CultBeauty sent me a bday code and obviously I made use of it to pick up some items I had on my wish list. I will be breaking down my spree into several posts and I really did go just a tad overboard. JOUER was recommended to me by a bridal client who could not stop raving about the longevity of them and wanted to wear it on her registry day. So of course I had to see what all the fuss was about.
I wanted to start with the JOUER review because I began using them immediately and couldn't believe how fab they really are. I'm so glad that I tried them out because they are amazing for the price, quality and the packaging is super sleek and cute. You can immediately have a good idea of how they look and I like how they click onto other products too.
Hey Beauties, I decided to post the follow up to the HUDA BEAUTY Lip Contour post quite quickly as I had a few ladies asking me to.
Again I have been using these for quite a while (a good few months) and they are absolutely AAMAAAZING! The shades I got were Famous, Vixen, Spice Girl, Medusa, Cheerleader, Bombshell and Flirt. I made sure to pick up the Vampy Reds, Nude Browns & Pinks as these are my go to colours for regular wear & special occasions. I really want to pick the rest up now and I'll tell you lovelies why...
So I finally managed to upload this after it had been sitting in my drafts for an insane amount of time… which simply meant that it gave me that extra time to really put Huda’s latest beauty releases to the test. I’ve been wearing the Liquid Lipsticks & Lip Contours every day as well as to special events like weddings and Eid a couple months back.
Huda Kattan is today’s most influential and prominent beauty blogger, the Queen of Contouring and known for weird, wonderful and sometimes downright crazy hacks… (Vagisil as a Primer anyone!?!)
She came out with her lashes a while back and Instagram went absolutely crazy over them. Rightly so as they were amazing! My fave are the Giselle, Samantha and Noelle lashes especially for bridal as they’re best for both Soft and dramatic bridal looks. I have been known to double up on Giselle lashes for shoots as well and they are so fluttery and wispy.
I love this time of the year as makeup companies release the most gorgeous and stunning collections like this Vanitas by Illamasqua. As soon as I saw the email of Illamasqua promoting Vanitas I knew I had to get my hands on the palette the colours I saw are just so me! I really love my earthy browns and I adore how they paired those with some gorgeous rich plummy shadows so the colour combination here is right up my street.
I decided to pick up three of the lipsticks out of the five released and the eyeshadow palette of course...
Hey lovelies, I'm back to my Beauty Tip series after I took a break with all the reviews & product info for shoots I posted in the past few weeks. This one Tip is something that always 'USED' to surprise a lot of people but I know so many of the big makeup artists use this for Red Carpet Events, for Brides, Shoots & even Drag Queens have been known to do this to make the makeup last better on their skin. And now with a lot of makeup gurus showing these techniques on youtube and instagram, a lot more people are incorporating these same tricks into their routines, even for everyday.
I'm hoping with this post that I can help some of you who have been asking me what exactly do the makeup artists use whilst cooking and baking and how to go about it, so here goes...
This product is one of few that never ever leaves my kit. I rely on it when nothing else quite cuts it. It definitely is not as highly blogged about as it should be. They are so underated which I find ridiculous. It's also quite hard to get a hold of here in the UK. I always have to request this be picked up whenever I have a friend go over to the states or scour Ebay for a genuine seller that offers them.
The HCG concealers themselves are amazing for covering up scarring, discolouration, dark circles, break outs, redness and any other skin issue you can think of! They are creamy, pigmented and easily buildable. I find them to be quite neutral in undertone. Not too yellow or too pink which allows me to mix in my own undertone using pigments from the MUFE Flash Palette (Review Ladies?)
I haven't found them to create any unwarrented flashback nor any irritation around the eyes. I do find they take some getting use to if you are new to heavy products as they are soo full coverage. So use a very light hand and a teeny pin sized amount goes a long way, my lovelies.
Now I know I am late to review this but I really didn't have a chance to make proper use of this til May of this year and before that it just lay in my box of products yet to be opened and played with, I should be ashamed, I know! Over the past few months I've purchased so many highlighters, it's no joke, but I am digging the super Highlighted / Strobing trend that took over from contouring. (More Highlighters up for review soon, Dior, Illamasqua, ABH, Laura Geller, Nars etc)
The first one up for review is Champagne Pop which everyone was raving about a few months ago, and rightly so. It's so smooth and creamy with a buttery texture that just glides right on the skin and buffs out so naturall onto the skin so beautifully. The formula is exactly like the other Shimmering Skin Perfectors that they have, I own Opal and I am obsessed with it!
So for the past few months I have been using the CHANEL Hydra Beauty Creme as my new moisturiser as I felt my skin was slowly changing from very Oily/Combination to Normal/Very Dry due to the colder weather, indoor heating and general stress, (I'm also ageing now guys!!!)
I found that despite me using a variety of cleansing milks, foam washes and exfoliators, I still found my skin to get patchy, flakey or feel incredibly tight on some days. My original moisturisers were Estee Lauder Daywear and MAC Studio Moisture which I stopped using over a year ago. I started using the Embryolisse Emulsion Hydra - Mat instead and it was absolutely perfect for my skin. Giving me a smooth hydrated canvas which kept my makeup on frm 8 am til 9pm. This however stopped a few months ago, just after Ramadhan when I found my skin type had changed.
I had my eye on the CHANEL Hydra Beauty Gel Creme version at first as I had played around with the consistency before and really loved how it felt on the skin - extremely lightweight and incredibly smoothing. However due to the change in my skin, I went with the Creme instead since I would benefit from the additional hydration during the winter.
So recently someone asked me what my go to lashes were and the main ones I keep in my kit are HudaBeauty, Velour Lashes, Ardell, Red Cherry & Girls With Attitude.
It always depends on the look, what lashes I apply but more often than not I use Wispy lashes either by Red Cherry or Demi Wispies by Ardell. I find the Red Cherry WSP lashes to be the closest dupe for the HudaBeauty Lashes in Giselle which are very popular.
Green tea is an absolutely amazing way to boost energy levels up, but it can also help to speed up your metabolism and improve your skin with great results in just a few weeks! It's antioxidant heavy properties help to renew skin, fight acne scars, wrinkles, refresh and give a more radiant, youthful look overall!
I've searched long and hard for a foundation that gives medium buildable coverage where needed but gives a beautiful radiant glow. What I've found when makeup companies say glowy, radiant or dewy, it's usually a code name for sheer coverage which is fine if that's what you're after but I want more... And I think this is it!
I've been wearing the Dior Star Foundation quite a bit over the past few months and I feel I can really give a good overview of this foundation, which is perfect for any ladies who have oily skin like me. I do think that this foundation could be amazing for dry skin as well because of the moisturising properties they've added into this foundation. As you can see from the picture, the Dior Star gives a beautiful radiance but is truly buildable coverage which I am loving!
I actually brought these products last year in July just before my wedding as I wanted a more dewy and fresh faced look for the smaller events surrounding the wedding - Especially all the lil dinner events afterwards! I felt like this combination of products would make getting ready a lot quicker since I can no longer take more than 15 miunutes to get ready! UGH Impatient non-makeup wearing people honestly... -_- lol
So in October I subscribed again after ages to a beauty box service. I had been apart of both Glossybox and She Said Beauty in the past but I had been put of by the cheap and irrelevent products that they sent out. Although I was apprehensive this time, the reviews for the Cohorted boxes were so positive, I just had to give them a try and boy was I not let down.
So just a heads up in advance, I will be doing the monthly reviews a month after I have received the box as not everyone gets the box at the same time. Also so that I can have some time to properly use and play with the products and then give you all a decent review. So right now I am reviewing the November box even though I've already got the December box.
I picked up some NARS Audacious Lipsticks a few months ago along with the NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette (review here...!)
I was really excited to try these out as I had heard great reviews about these from so many bloggers, I was just dying to try them out. The lipstick shades I chose were - Vanessa - Soft Pinkish Mauve, Annabella - Bright Cherry Red, Jane - Soft Peach, Liv - Deep Berry, Michiyo - Bright Fuchsia Pink.
Lovelies, I find that when working with the darker shadows especially those that are intensely pigmented, there is usually a lot of fall out so I always try to make sure I leave the base until after the eyes and brows are done.
Apply your eye makeup first and then go in and wipe away any excess fall out from dark shadows, pigments and even glitter on the cheeks before working on perfecting the skin.
Another way to pick up pesky fall out is to use surgical tape or even ordinary tape which will catch all the product and lift it clean off of the skin.
Another way is to use Shadow Shields which are like cotton paper pads that can be attached from one end after peeling off the backing. I brought a box from IMATS last year & they proved so handy but if you want to save then holding a tissue under the eyes will work similarly as well.
Now Autumn is here, the smokey looks will be back in once again and trending throughout the next few months so I hope this helps.
Hello beauties! How is your week going on so far? Today after ages I managed to post a review of Too Faced Cosmetics Primed & Poreless Powder (<3). I'm sure you all remember how long ago I ordered from them. It had been a few months but I remember The delivery was super quick and I got everything within 48 hours! I was very impressed! I also picked up their Bulletproof 24 hour Eyeliners & I helped myself to adding some of their much hyped Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks...
Hi my lovelies, I wanted to post about a product that I use frequently & yet I still find so many people confused by it whenever I pull it out to spray on their faces!
I am amazed by how many people don't know about Model In A Bottle Setting Spray. Recently I had some ladies ask me for an alternative product for their MAC Fix + and I had to say 'Although the name is misleading - MAC Fix + is NOT a setting spray but how about you try the Model In A Bottle Setting Spray...'
Early this year, I was asked to do Make up & Hijab styling for Hijab Jewel's latest Spring/Summer Collection again. I had such a fun time working with the lovely ladies behind Hijab Jewels as well as with Halima who was the photographer, that of course I agreed to do it again.
The model, Inna, who I had worked with on the first HJ shoot is such a natural beauty, I was glad to be working on her gorgeous face again.
I always make sure to discuss the makeup brief and hijab styling with the client before hand - it allows me to prepare better and be able to pick up any specific products if need be. For example Inna wanted to try an alternative lash glue since she was trying to avoid using DUO lash glue so I picked up some HOUSE OF LASHES Glue especially for her.
Hijab Jewels & me had already discussed the kind of makeup they wanted as well as the hijab styles that would be best suited, which typically depends on the face shape & materials I am given to work with.
The last time I worked on Inna I created a subtle, soft & fresh for the first beauty look - I created it to be universally flattering on absolutely everyone.
This time however I went in with more definition on the eyes with a lot more eyeliner to create that smokier eye. I kept the lips neutral with the perfect nude for Inna - something just a bit more darker than her natural lip colour.
