So in October I subscribed again after ages to a beauty box service. I had been apart of both Glossybox and She Said Beauty in the past but I had been put of by the cheap and irrelevent products that they sent out. Although I was apprehensive this time, the reviews for the Cohorted boxes were so positive, I just had to give them a try and boy was I not let down.
So just a heads up in advance, I will be doing the monthly reviews a month after I have received the box as not everyone gets the box at the same time. Also so that I can have some time to properly use and play with the products and then give you all a decent review. So right now I am reviewing the November box even though I've already got the December box.
I was well impressed with the array of beauty & skincare products and companies featured in this box. The eyeshadow palette alone is worth the amount of the monthly subscription service so I definitely did not feel let down like I have done with previous companies and their ridiculous drugstore samples that aren't relevant or useful to me.
I'm already looking forward to the next box! The products included in this are -
So to start off with, is the Cargo Cosmetics The Essentials Eyeshadow Palette, worth £35.00. This has to be my favourite product out of them all personally. I love the mix of neutral shadows both warm & cool. Making it super versatile for absolutely everyone. The shadows are super pigmented & I found them to blend well & last quite well without primer. I also liked the pencil eyeliner that was included which I found to be a rich deep black and not charcoal black. I also found the brush to be sturdy and quite handy although I still reached for other brushes as well.
Definitely a palette I would purchase on it's own as I know it's something for everyday so I'd get a lot of use out of it. And you can definitely find it handy to pop it in your bag when travelling to cut down on extra products.
Next up is the Laura Mercier Facebook Palette. I was quite amazed that this was included as I had wanted to try this for quite a while but it seemed to be discontinued. It came in Nude which is not ideal for me obviously, which was annoying. Nevertheless I might make use of on clients or give it to my pale ghost of a sister. The palette contains two Secret Camouflage shades, Secret Concealer, Tinted Moisturiser Creme Compact, Mineral Powder with a Sponge & Concealer Brush. The palette is great again for touch ups on the go & literally has everything needed to conceal dark circles & blemishes. The mirror is the perfect size.
I believe you can still find this croc covered palette on the net in some places or buy the products individually to use. It's a shame it's been discontinued.
Why do makeup brands do this to us, why?!?
The product that most intrigued me was the Bare Minerals Instant Eye Reviver. I was sceptical to say the least as I wasn't sure exactly how much this product would live upto it's claims to firm the skin instantly & overtime. Now if I'm honest I didn't find it to have any firming effect immediately when I applied it but I cannot say if it worked long term as I haven't used it enough. However the unique powder reminded me of the hair volumising powders that's are used to add an additional boost to hair. I found it had a lovely silky silicon like feeling to the skin and did make my under eyes look more smooth after I applied my usual concealer but I felt it also made it crease a little quicker.
All you have to do is gently pat a small amount of the powder under your eyes and then do your makeup as usual
I'm on the fence about this product at the moment but I'll keep using it and keep you all posted.
The Nails Inc polishes didn't really excite me that much. Especially not the Tangerine orange shade called Chelsea Flower Show. I don't mind the nude colour but I felt it looked a little to pale for my nails to be a good nude. I personally would have preferred another makeup or skincare product as opposed to nail products as I'm quite picky with polishes since I hardly wear them but If you're into nails than I definitely think one of these colours will excite you.
Cohorted also included a bonus Sample of Chloe Fragrance which had lovely, fresh and floral notes to it. I keep it in my bag for quick spritz when needed. I like fragrance samples like these as you can get a better idea of how a fragrance smells than on a piece of paper.
So I hope you guys liked my rather long winded review of the November box. I will be posting the December box review sooner since there are fewer products and I have already used them quite a bit already. So do keep an eye out for that soon!
Overall I must admit for this first box, I was well chuffed at everything included especially since everything was full size excluding the bonus sample. I definitely feel like I got more for my moneys worth and I was even more excited for the December box to come.
