So I wanted to share one of my favourite hairstyles I did last year on a last minute bride who was having a pre - engagement party. She booked me the day before & allowed me to create any up-do on her that would turn heads. She was initially worried since she had short hair & hadn't had the time to pick up some extensions, so I made use of some of the back up hair pieces I keep in my hair kit to create the appropriate volume & design.
I always do recommend that a trial for both hair & makeup be booked at least 4 weeks before your event date but I know that sometimes it can't be helped... I mixed 4 pieces of 2 types of coloured hair together so that it would match as closely as possible to Jess's own hair.
I started off by separating the hair into 3 sections; the front section, the crown & the back section. Then I started teasing the crown & pinning it back . I tied up the rest of Jess's hair from the back & added a bun filler over it before pining it all the way round so it was secure & would be able to hold the weight of the dupatta that was very heavy.
After that, I started pinning on the 4 hair extension pieces; I used 2 dark brown & 2 medium brown pieces. I then took some strands from both colours & started creating very large swirls which I pinned down on to the bun . I then tugged at each of them to pull out some strands to create the rose style shape. I covered up all the bun with the rose swirls until I ran out of hair. I then pinned down any stray hairs & made sure it was all secure & none of the swirls would lift.
Finally I moved onto the front & made a side parting. I teased both sides before pinning them down & creating swirls with the ends & blending them into the bun. I finished off by draping the dupatta on, overlapping the pins so the dupatta was on secure & out of the way as the bride was going to be dancing & didn't want it getting in the way.
This was twist on my usual bridal Bun style with the Vintage swirls as the bride Jess wanted something quite unique with a bold statement look.
Let me know what you think!
