So a few days ago, someone asked me about the picture of Glitter Mehndi Applicators that they saw on my Instagram; So I thought why not review it here, & show you lot what I use to enhance traditional Mehndi (Henna).
Fellow Mehndi artists know what I mean when I say Ask Kumar is a name to be reckoned with in the world mehndi. He is astonishingly skilled when it comes to application, & not only is he super fast but he is original in design as well.
I first brought them off of the Sculpt Beauty website, two years ago & I liked them so much I repurchased them when I ran out of most of the colours. You can actually just get these straight off the AK website, but I saw them first on the Sculpt Beauty YouTube channel & decided to just get them from their website....
What's so good about them, I hear you ask? Well…
First off, I use these to add colour to the designs, which makes the Mehndi more glamorous as opposed to the typical greeny-black paste designs. The design look so much more funky whilst the Mehndi dries and the ladies get to choose the colours to match their outfits!
The applicators are conveniently packaged so that I can use them easily & have control on how much glitter is squeezed out… (Practice is needed when you first start using them.) It also means I won’t have to deal with stray glitter going every which way. They come in a cute rectangle black box which stores them nicely & looks uber pro in my kit. There are ten colours in the kit I ordered, however I believe you can purchase the colours individually or buy them in smaller sets of five.
Moreover as they don’t come in the typical cone style packaging, they don’t dry out, & like I’ve had one or two colours for almost year now that I’m hardly ever requested to use & the sweet little things still haven’t dried out on me. When applied to the skin they do take some time to dry, roughly about the same as it takes for Mehndi to dry so about ten – 15 minutes. The glitter dries flat against the skin & won’t smudge or budge after that.
Now they aren’t exactly cheap & I’m sure you can get less pricy alternatives somewhere else ( I think Green ST, Southall, and general Asian shops) but like I said I really like the applicator tubes & I believe you get what you pay for; some of the cheaper alternatives are simply glitter glues children play with packaged differently and who knows whether they're safe to use on the skin directly and whether they are as pigmented.
I know many Asian ladies prefer me to use these as AK is very well known. They know they are going to get excellent quality & the colours will show up really beautifully on the skin in person & on camera; AK Mehndi is like the CHANEL of all Mehndi - Pure luxury.
On an end note, the glitters wash off really easily with some soap & water without irritating the skin or leaving behind any residue. I’ve actually used them on my face alongside some models faces (not near the eye) to get some
stunning effects & they’ve not caused any issues.
I really hope you liked the review & I hope I answered all your questions. Try them out & let me know what you think!
