I thought I’d blog about one of my fave Urban Decay Palettes that everyone has been having mixed feelings about. Now I already own several Urban Decay Palettes, which I include in my pro makeup kit. So you can imagine how excited I was to hear about this new palette almost a year ago! :)
So I've been a fan of Urban Decay's eye shadows for quite some time. The texture, pigmentation, and overall quality of their shadows is always perfect, & now they've improved the formula even more! This sleek matte dull gold palette is so small enough to pop into your handbag, and since the packaging is hard plastic compared to some of their previous ones, it's much more sturdier. ( The Naked palette was velvet, Naked 2 & 3 are tin palettes...)
The palette comes with a generous mirror and 6 essential shadows. 5 of which are matte shadows & 1, Venus, is a demi-matte. They look amazing on their own or stunning when used with bright colours. 4 of the shadows, are exclusive to the Basics, Walk of Shame, Naked 2, Faint & Crave. The original Naked, Naked 2, Naked 3 retail at £36 whilst this new palette retails at £20, which is worth it I think! :)
Before I went out & got the palette, I read reviews about it being "boring," but I'm so glad I went ahead & brought this anyway because I think it's the exact opposite, you can do soo much with this palette! Even, if you like brighter colours, it's still ideal to get. Why? Because bright colourful eye looks still need a matte neutral colour for blending out towards the brow bone, maybe in the crease or as a matte highlight on the brow bone.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some colourful eye looks whenever the occasion arises but I always end up moaning about the lack of matte neutral shades to help with blending. This palette allows me to create natural looks that I can wear to university, work or with friends. You can create a couple of everyday looks with it or use with other palettes that are lacking in matte neutrals. I actually pack this along with my Vice Palette and I can create any look I want on myself or anyone else.
This palette is everything I imagined UD would come up with! The only bad thing I can say is that I wish it had come with maybe a 24/7 eyeliner pencil, or a brush like the previous naked palettes but other than that, the Basics is on point. Finally Urban Decay has given us a much needed & asked for matte palette!
I hope this was helpful for you guys, and as usual let me know what you think.
