Hi ladies, so this isn't really a review but a haul of all the goodies I picked up from IMATS on Friday. It was my first time and I only went along to the Pro Event in the evening as I've heard the weekend tends to be incredibly packed. The weekend is open to everyone and the discounts are absolutely amazing, upto 55% or even more off of soo many fabuous makeup brands. I ordered my ticket from www.imats.net a few weeks in advance as I was worried they would sell out!
Okay so onto my haul...
INGLOT - I made the most of the discount there and it was the first place I made a bee line for because I've been meaning to dip into their products for quite some time but I just haven't had a chance. Even though there is a store at Westfield (White City) I've only popped into there once to pick up the Duraline ( a mixing medium.)
The stand was quite busy but colourful and eye catching, making me want everything! I love that all the products are numbered rather than named strangely, it makes things soo much easier when choosing products.
I picked up the 20 Square Freedom Palette (£8 - Usually £15) & 6 Freedom shadows, 3 Matte shades and 3 Pearl shades(£3 each, usually £4.50.)
- The shadows are just so pigmented, it's unbelievable, especially considering the price! Even without the IMATS prices the shadows are really affordable. They're like MAC pigmented but way more and you get more product. New shadow love for me, and I haven't loved shadows since I tried Makeup Geek shadows a while back. <3
Next I picked up 2 Body Pigment Powders (£8, usually £12) & 4 AMC Pure Pigment Eyeshadow (£8):
- The Body Pigment Powders are amazing and I wanted to buy every single colour! They have a high metallic pay off, are versatile and can be used all over the body by mixing in with moisturiser or mixing medium. However I am disappointed with the amount of product you get, which I only noticed when I got home and opened up . £8 for 1 measly gram & the pots were not even a quarter full, which I feel is misleading when you see full pots shown on display. Especially since this is a body pigment, they really should have given more. The product is beautiful but I don't think I will be picking up other colours anytime soon, even with the discount, its a real let down to be honest.
- The AMC Pure Pigment Eyeshadow has more product thank fully and the pots are full. They cost £8 as well (£12 usually) but you get twice as much product, 2 grams. I loved the colours I picked up as they are so versatile and perfect for my glamorous asian brides. These are slightly chunky compared to the Body Pigment Powders but less so than glitters. A base will definitely be needed underneath or some sort of medium to help the product adhere to the skin.
Lastly I picked up the INGLOT Eyeliner Gel (£7) and a pinky mauve Lip Paint (£7), two products that I have read rave reviews about from bloggers and fellow MUAs. I haven't tried these just yet so I don't know how much they live up to the hype... (The lip paint is a lil darker off camera)
SHOPVIOLETVOSS - The next place I hit was Violet Voss or SHOPVIOLETVOSS where I met Elessa Jade of Pursebuzz & Enkore Makeup. They were so nice & Elessa recommended some great glitter colours for me to. I had wanted to buy just the adhesive for quite a while but was always put off by customs fees & US shipping costs, (TOTALLY SUCKS!) This 'Violet's Secret Weapon Loose Pigment and Glitter Adhesive' I hear is a lot better than the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue and the Ben Nye Glitter Glue I currently use.
Here are some close-ups and swatches with the adhesive. Elessa advised me to apply an extremely thin layer across the skin and then use a dense concealer type brush with synthetic hairs to pat product on but in the swatches I just used my fingers because it was quite late and I was too eager to look for that brush.
I got four glitters & the adhesive for around £25 - The adhesive alone was £14 but I wanted some bling (lol) and she offered me a deal :) The colours I chose were a deep blackened purple (Penelope), a deep navy with some teal and gold running through (Raven), a forest green with brown and copper running through (Taylor) and an Iridescent Gold (Goldie) . I took 10 mins choosing since there were such amazing colours. Each was so unique as they were mixed with different contrasting glitters to give that multi dimensional sparkle. So pretty!
BEAUTY B COSMETICS - I went on to pick up the Sigma Beauty Brush Glove specifically designed to help with cleaning makeup brushes. I didn't want it badly enough to pay £38 for it online but I'm glad I brought it from the BeautyB Cosmetics Vendor. I got it for around £24/25 (?) which got me very excited since it was such a great deal and it's the brand new version too, the old version comes with less textured surfaces and only 1 thumb.
I actually had a chance to use it last night and I love it. My hand will no longer get sore and wrinkly from washing my brushes under water for so long. It used to take me 3-4 hours but last night I washed them in 2 hours! Definitely worth it at that price.
I also picked up some Shadow Shields as I was running out and why not get them for less whilst I have the chance?! For those of you who don't know, Shadow Shields are these crescent shaped stickers which are applied underneath the eye and are designed to catch any fall out from eyeshadow, pigments or glitter.
They stock quite a few US brands like Ben Nye, Sigma, Brush Egg, Coastal Scents & Melt Cosmetics so check out the website if you want to avoid customs charges and expensive shipping costs.
Make Up For Ever - I also took advantage of the MUFE stand to add a new foundation to my Bridal Kit - The Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in 4 shades, N127, N153, N157 & N173. I already have this foundation for myself and I absolutely adore it. I wear it on special occasions since it gives the perfect airbrushed finish when used with a beauty blender, something I learnt from Mario Dedivanovic and his Kim Kardashian Tutorial.
Finally I made two last splurges. The first at Eye Kandy where I picked up the Kandy Bag Complete Sprinkles Kit. Again I wanted the Liquid Sugar as I'm on the search for the perfect glue that will hold up for at least 8 hours on the lid so I'm looking forward to testing this out. The glitters that I chose in my kit are not labelled unfortunately so I can't name them but I tried taking some decent-y shots of them, just click on the pictures below...
Lastly, the second splurge I made was on a pair of Mink lashes from Velour Lashes in the style '#Winging'. I got them for £14 which is cheap for mink lashes as they usually retail for around £28 to £36. Again Velour Lashes is a US brand and they have been getting incredibly popular due to Instagram artists so I wanted to see if they were as good as the hype suggested. I'm also looking around for some different mink lashes for my Premium Brides so trying these out just seemed appropriate. And the packaging is just soo cute! I love damask as it's such a beautiful classic pattern.
So that was my IMATs haul! I hope you ladies enjoyed it and my super long post didn't bore you half to death. I do always tend to ramble on when it comes to makeup products so don't mind me! Any questions, please leave them in the comments below and as always;
